the war of fire and snow
a tale as old as you and i
i demonize myself
and dramatically glorify you
according to lore
angels chase after monsters
demons chase after love
midnight envies the morning
simple sleep leads to tempting sex
but true art forms when we speak
i needed depth
to touch fire or to wonder of it
or to feel cold and just believe
i chose pain over patience
you, defiance for my alliance
but that was your signal to flee
why can't you abandon winter for me?
why can't i abandon summer for you?
emotions never see reason
and reason justifies treason
you feared the flaming pits of hell
i feared the mighty blizzard
so i set the house ablaze
and now i bathe in snow
bodies crave warmth, but not fire
minds drown through thoughts, not touch
ghosts of seduction and success
the comprehension of my sins
to choose suffering over satisfaction
to love higher than affection
to allow goodness to kill me
so that i don't breathe amongst devils
guilt is poison, regret is my murderer
with or without god, you die.
i'm too shy to meet him tonight
and what is love after life?
i choose art over life and death
the war of fire and snow
